What body-based care looks like.
Emotions aren’t only felt in the mind — they’re often held or stored physically, surfacing in the body long before a child has the words for them. Somatic-informed care is a body-based approach that supports the body’s natural ability to release stress and reduce anxiety, helping children work through big emotions by paying attention to those physical sensations — not only by talking things through. As children learn to notice the body’s signals, they build awareness and practical skills that support greater emotional and physical regulation, so calm can feel more familiar over time. Clara draws on Somatic Experiencing, a well-established body-based approach, in this work.

Body-based support can meet children where words alone can’t always reach.

Racing thoughts, worry, clinginess, stomachaches, and trouble settling at night.
Meltdowns, anger, and overwhelm that feel bigger than the moment.
Restlessness, trouble focusing, and days that tip easily into overwhelm.
Pressure, transitions, and the everyday strain of growing up that the body keeps holding.
A steady presence, grounded in pediatric experience.
I’m a pediatric APRN with years of experience caring for children — and additional training in somatic, body-based approaches. My work is rooted in the body: helping young people notice where they hold fear, worry, and upset, and building the safety and practical skills to move through it.
